Curiosity - Exploration - Connection

The Coastal Institute at Camp Ocean Pines provides three, four, and five day residential outdoor education programs for 4th through 12th grade students from public and private schools.

Our unique location, in a pine-oak forest overlooking the Pacific Ocean, has allowed us to develop a curriculum that explores each aspect of California‚Äôs dynamic coastline.  Students who attend our programs will search for salamanders in the forest, explore the intertidal zone at our local tide pools, meet a live bird of prey, and much more!

Our program is based around the idea of curiosity-based learning, through which students awaken curiosity, explore nature, and create connections.

AWAKEN CURIOSITY

We encourage students to observe, wonder, and ask questions.

EXPLORE NATURE

At science camp, kids get their hands dirty and explore the world around them!

CREATE CONNECTIONS

Students connect what they see around them to the concepts they learn in school.
